Volunteer at SYC
The SYC requires Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches to be in compliance with PA Act 153 and Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017.
All applicable SYC Coaches will be issued a picture Id card. The SYC will advise of registration event(s) for their volunteers prior to the start of each season. All required documents should be held onto by the volunteer until the picture Id day.

Whether you volunteer to be a head coach or assistant coach, you are required to provide the valid clearances and course completion certificates listed below:

All of the above must be submitted to the Board, prior to the start of the football season.
New Volunteers
New volunteers must have all of the following documentation completed prior to coaching in a sport and in order to receive your picture Id:
PA Criminal Reference Check – SP4-164 (required every 36 months). Result will be emailed back to the volunteer and can be printed out or saved. Volunteer will be responsible for any fees associated with obtaining this clearance. Applicants can go to the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History website and apply for their criminal record check online with the Pennsylvania State Police at: PA Criminal Background Check
PA Child Abuse History Clearance – CY113 (required every 36 months). Result will be emailed back to the volunteer and can be printed out or saved. Volunteer will be responsible for any fees associated with obtaining this clearance. Child Abuse History Clearance Online: PA Child Abuse Clearance
Concussion prevention education (live seminar or on-line learning module completed annually). The SYC will track this information from attendance at a live seminar or completion of the on-line learning module: Concussion Training
Returning Volunteers will only need to go through this part of the process every 3 years.
